Terms of use
By using Playboook you agree to the six terms below. They are deliberately short — if something matters for your rights, it is spelled out, not buried.
1. What the product is
Playboook is a sanitised educational specimen modelled on a successful UK Global Talent Visa application strategy. It is an independent reference resource that demonstrates evidence organisation, narrative framing, document sequencing, and presentation logic. All identifying details — names, organisations, projects, publications, locations, and recommender identities — have been removed, altered, or generalised throughout. It is not a template, a course, legal advice, immigration advice, or application services.
2. Access & licence
Purchase grants a personal, non-transferable licence to access the product online, use the structure and reasoning as reference for your own application, and receive updates at no additional charge for the life of the product.
3. What the licence does not cover
- Sharing, reselling, or forwarding access credentials to anyone.
- Copying wording, referee letters, CV bullets, or statement passages into your own application.
- Commercial redistribution, mirroring, adaptation, or translation.
4. Pricing & refunds
Early access is £49 — half price — for the first 7 days of launch (the founding window). The public-launch price for the full bundle is £99. Single purchase, ongoing access, no subscription.
Playboook is a digital product. Access is granted instantly when the payment webhook clears, which means refunds are not offered after purchase. The chapter covers and the entire Welcome chapter are browsable for free — preview before buying. Bank-issued chargebacks are handled per the Lemon Squeezy payment processor's standard policy. If you experience a technical issue accessing what you paid for, email hello@playboook.com and we will sort it.
5. Intellectual property
All content — text, design, annotations, structure — is © Playboook 2026, all rights reserved. Screenshots, short quotations, or brief passages for review or discussion are welcome; credit the source and link back to playboook.com.
6. Limitation of liability
The product is provided as-is. Best efforts at time of publication, but no liability is accepted for any decision, outcome, time, or cost arising from use of the product.
Hard limits
Sharing, reselling, or commercially redistributing your access — or copying wording into a real application — may result in termination of access without refund. Endorsing bodies and the Home Office both run similarity checks on submitted materials. The risk is real on both sides.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales; disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Material changes to these terms are flagged in-product or by email before they take effect.
Privacy
One operating principle: collect only what's necessary, explain why, and tell you how to delete it.
What is collected
- Your email address — collected only when you actively join the waitlist, purchase access, or submit feedback. Used to send the access link, product updates, and important changes.
- Your name (optional) — if you provide a display name during sign-up, it is stored alongside your email so the product can address you properly.
- Anonymous access logs via Vercel (the host): paths visited, region, device type. No personally identifying information; used to improve the product, not to target individuals.
What is not collected
- Location data finer than country / region.
- Cross-site tracking cookies.
- Your identity documents, passport numbers, visa status, or application details.
- Third-party advertising identifiers.
Processors
- Vercel — site hosting and edge CDN. Anonymous access logs are retained for Vercel's standard period.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage. Holds your email, display name, purchase history, and referral data.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (access codes, magic links, password reset, product updates). Receives only the email address and the message body.
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processor (merchant of record). Handles checkout and VAT. Playboook never sees your card details.
Your rights (GDPR)
- Request the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your email and associated records.
- Opt out of future product emails.
You can delete your own account at any time from /account (Danger zone, at the bottom). Deletion removes your auth row and detaches your purchases from your email; the purchase record itself stays on file for tax and chargeback reasons. For anything else, email hello@playboook.com — expect a response within 30 days.
Cookies & browser storage
Playboook uses a small, fixed set of cookies. No advertising or session-replay tools — full list below. Theme and language preferences are kept in localStorage on your device (never sent to a server).
For aggregate traffic counts we use Vercel Web Analytics — anonymous, no cookies, GDPR-compliant, no personal data sent. The tracker records page views and high-level breakdowns (country, device class, referrer host) without fingerprinting or cross-site tracking. See Vercel's analytics privacy notice for the full data-handling description.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime | Class |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-* | Supabase auth session — keeps you signed in across pages. | ~1 hour (auto-refreshed while you're active) | Strictly necessary |
pb_ref | Referral attribution if you arrived via a friend's link (?ref=name-XXXX). Lets us credit the referrer when you buy. HTTP-only. | 30 days | Functional (set only when you click a referral link) |
pb_code | Discount code attribution if you arrived via a promo link (?code=XXX). HTTP-only. | 24 hours | Functional |
pb_cookies_ack | Records that you dismissed the cookie notice so we don't show it on every visit. | 180 days | Strictly necessary |
Lemon Squeezy sets its own cookies when you reach the hosted checkout page (fraud detection, checkout state). Those cookies live on checkout.lemonsqueezy.com and are governed by Lemon Squeezy's cookie policy, not ours.
You can clear the Playboook cookies any time from your browser settings (Settings → Privacy → Cookies, or equivalent). The Supabase auth cookie clears automatically when you sign out from /account.
Security baseline
All traffic is HTTPS-only. Email is the single direct contact channel — there is no comment system, no third-party tracking embed, and no chat widget that could leak data outside the processors named above.
Changes to this notice
Material changes are flagged in-product or by email before they take effect. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) ship without notice.
Disclaimer
Playboook is a sanitised educational specimen modelled on a successful Global Talent application strategy. It is not legal or immigration advice and does not guarantee endorsement or a visa outcome.
Independent
Playboook is not affiliated with Arts Council England, RIBA, the UK Home Office, UK Visas & Immigration, the Department for Business and Trade, Tech Nation, the British Fashion Council, Pact, the Architects Registration Board, or any law firm or immigration adviser. For professional immigration advice, consult an OISC-regulated adviser or a UK-licensed immigration solicitor.
Sanitised specimen, not a real dossier
All names, organisations, projects, publications, locations, and recommender identities have been removed, altered, or generalised. The product does not contain the maintainer's original unredacted dossier, private correspondence, recommender identities, employer details, institution names, internal project information, or third-party confidential materials.
Do not copy wording
Use the reasoning, the structure, and the evidence logic — never the wording. Endorsing bodies run similarity checks, and the Home Office is especially good at spotting borrowed phrasing. Direct copying will seriously hurt your application.
Authoritative requirements live elsewhere
Current application requirements are authoritatively set by GOV.UK and Arts Council England. Always cross- check the live guidance before submitting. The Sources page keeps a hand-maintained list of the URLs referenced throughout the handbook.
